Defining a motion design system
Bank of America APAC
Motion Design
This system was built for the Asia Pacific regional digital signage network — a massive footprint spanning 12 countries and over 150 screens, reaching 10,000+ employees daily.
The Challenge
Before this system, our content lacked a unified "feel" and visual impact. Just like brand colors, fonts, and spacing, motion requires its own set of patterns and intentionality. Without them, it’s hard to tell a cohesive brand story. I realized we needed a standardized approach to motion to ensure every piece of content felt like it belonged to the same family.
The Solution
Guidelines: I established the foundational principles for how elements move, specifically focusing on timing, easing, transition styles, and visual effects.
Toolkits: To turn those guidelines into action, I built an After Effects library of pre-comps for titles, icons, and UI modules, along with a set of ready-to-use templates for our most common content types.
Result
We shifted from fragmented one-off designs to a cohesive internal brand identity. More importantly, we built an efficient production pipeline that allows us to scale content across the region without losing quality or brand integrity.
